My recent Alcohol ink paintings are a new beginning for me. After working as a traditional oil painter for the majority of my career, I have fallen in love with the vibrancy and unpredictability of ink.
I stumbled upon this liberating medium while looking for an abstract craft project to do with a group of friends.
The group created wonderful abstract blobs and textures and all went home happy and proud of their beautiful art.
I however saw the textures as a jumping off point. Within the chaos of ink blobs and splatters, I saw the beginnings of birds and trees and organic abstract designs. As these images emerged, I began the transformation of each piece.
I paint on tile, pvc board and speedball ink boards. The ink that I use is mainly Tim Holz dye based alcohol inks.
I hope you enjoy these paintings as much as I enjoyed the process of creating them.
